Two exciting soccer events in downtown Phoenix this Friday, September 7th!

// September 3rd, 2012 // No Comments » // Local Teams, Pro Soccer in Phoenix, USA - Men's

FIRST, join members of the AmericanOutlaws Phoenix (AOPHX) and La Furia Roja 1881/The Red Fury 1881 supporters’ groups for a WCQ Viewing Party at the Filmbar and support the U.S. Men’s National Team in their tough away qualifier against Jamaica. Let’s cheer the Yanks on to an important win at “the Office”!

Immediately following the match, we’ll head over to the Open House for PHOENIX FC, Phoenix’s new USL Pro team. The team’s ownership group is hosting this event to commemorate the official kickoff of the team. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the team and staff. There will food, non-alcoholic drinks, and live music. The event is FREE and open to the public.

(Note: If you’re not a USMNT fan but want to join us for the march to the PFC Open House, meet us at the FilmBar just before 7:00 p.m.)

Come out for one or both of these events and help demonstrate that there is a large and vibrant fan base for soccer in the Valley of the Sun.

As many Valley soccer fans know, the U.S. MEN’S NATIONAL TEAM has been in the Phoenix area since early January in advance of their match against Venezuela at the University of Phoenix Stadium on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. Some of you may have been lucky enough to catch the team practicing at Reach 11. If you were one of the lucky ones, please share your experiences and photos with fellow fans by posting on our Facebook page or sending an email to MLS PHOENIX RISING and we will post them on our website.

OPEN PRACTICE
This weekend will be a full one for USMNT fans beginning with an open practice on Friday, January 20 from 5-6 p.m. at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale. Coach Jurgen Klinsmann will address those in attendance. Come out and show your support! You will need to sign up for info. Details can be found at the the U.S. Soccer website.

NIGHT-BEFORE-MATCH PARTY
The AMERICAN OUTLAWS will host a pre-match party on Friday evening from 7 pm – 2 am at the 16th Street Bar & Grill in Phoenix. Details can be found on the American Outlaws website.

PRE-MATCH TAILGATE
The AMERICAN OUTLAWS pre-match tailgate will begin at 4 pm on Saturday, January 21st and will be located on “Lawn C” with parking in the South “East” RV/General Parking Lot. The event is BYOB but food will be provided. Please bring food and/or drinks to share with fellow footy fans! Details and a map are provided on the American Outlaws website. Also, look for members of MLS PHOENIX RISING at the American Outlaws tailgate and on the Great Lawn!

Many MLSPR members will also be in the American Outlaws section behind the goal in the stadium.

This is our chance to show U.S. Soccer that Arizona supports the USMNT and does not need a match against Mexico to get a good turnout. It would be great to get Phoenix on the USSF’s radar for a future World Cup qualifier!

We hope to see all of you this weekend!!!

USA vs England Viewing Party @ McDuffy’s

MLSPR USA England World Cup Viewing Party

A capacity crowd filled McDuffy’s in Chandler to watch the USA-England World Cup match. More than 90 percent pro-U.S., the crowd chanted, sang, and gave the English fans that were there a good-natured hard time. Spirits remained high despite the early goal by Steven Gerrard and when Clint Dempsey’s shot ended up in the goal the celebration was raucous! Representatives from the Phoenix Regional Sports Commission were on hand and raffled off Diamondbacks and Cardinals tickets, t-shirts, and swag while collecting signatures in support of the bid to bring the 2018 or 2022 World Cup to the United States and the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale. ABC15 covered the event on its local news broadcasts at 6 and 10 pm and it was great to have a bar full of enthusiastic soccer fans as the backdrop for the story on the campaign to show that Phoenix has the fan interest in soccer to support making this area a site for future World Cup matches.

Phoenix Now an “Official” Chapter of the American Outlaws

// June 6th, 2010 // No Comments » // USA - Men's

The end of May brought exciting news for Phoenix area fans of the U.S. National Team. Phoenix now has an official chapter of the American Outlaws (AO) – a Supporters’ Group of the U.S. National Team with a network of chapters in cities across the country. Although many MLS PHOENIX RISING members are also AO members, until May we had not reached the minimum membership threshold in Phoenix to achieve “official” status. (more…)

Congratulations to AZ’s Robbie Findley! … What Do YOU Think About Bradley’s Final 23?

// June 6th, 2010 // No Comments » // USA - Men's, World Cup

According to the prevailing wisdom in the U.S. soccer media-sphere, one of the biggest surprises in the unveiling of the final 23-man squad that will represent the United States in the 2010 World Cup was Coach Bob Bradley’s decision to drop experienced and proven striker Brian Ching (45 caps/11 goals) from the team in favor of Arizona’s own Robbie Findley, a forward at Real Salt Lake of MLS and product of the Sereno Soccer Club of Phoenix.
