Join us Saturday morning at 16th Street Bar & Grill in Phoenix and at McDuffy’s Grille in Chandler to cheer on USA as they take on Ghana in the Round of 16!
Many of you may remember our last encounter with the Black Stars at the last World Cup. Despite Clint Dempsey’s big goal (left) we were sent home from the group stages in a painful 2-1 loss. On Saturday we face them again in the first of the knockout rounds and absolutely must win to advance into the quarterfinals.
Although 9 players in the current squad were also on the pitch back in 2006, they’re missing their key midfielder, Chelsea’s Michael Essien. However, it’s likely they will be the last remaining African nation come Saturday so they will have a lot to play for.
Us Yanks are ready for the fight though, and we’re going into the match with a lot of confidence and momentum from our late win against Algeria. So join us on Saturday morning to cheer on our national team in their crucial rematch which will determine whether we’re in the quarterfinals, or on a plane, come July 2nd!
